For this project I created a 3d model of New York’s 34th Street subway station to help with planning and blocking of a public prank. I also created original graphics and props.
On a hot summer day, Improv Everywhere decided to transform 34th Street subway station into a spa. Passengers of the MTA were given free massages, served cucumber drinks and misted with water to cool down.
In preparation for the prank I took measurements of the station and created a virtual 3d replica that was manipulated and used for planning foot traffic and staging.
In addition I made various signs using fonts, colors and styles of the MTA. One of them was a stand up public safety announcement sign showing spa offerings. I also made magnetic signs that stuck to subway poles and drop down signs to change the station name from 34th Street to 34th Street Spa.
