I was brought on by Prop Creative to create a modular paper city for their Mayor’s Challenge video promotion. Working under a tight deadline, I assembled a team of fabricators and implemented a rapid workflow from design to fabrication.
I started by creating a 3D model of the city. This allowed me to implement notes from the Art Director and the Client before making anything physical. Once the design was approved, I created unfolded templates of each building. Those templates were then cut out on a computer controlled paper cutter. Lastly, the team of fabricators carefully folded and glued the hundreds of buildings together.
On the day of the shoot the buildings were used to create three different cityscapes with projection mapped video on selected facades.
